Introducing LLaMA 2: Meta’s New Milestone in Aligning Large Language Models
As large language models like GPT-3 continue to advance in capability, there is growing concern around potential risks like generating misinformation, toxicity, and deception. Meta’s new LLaMA 2 model aims to push the boundaries of natural language processing while upholding principles of honesty, harmlessness, and helpfulness.
What is Llama 2?
Llama 2 is a collection of pretrained and fine-tuned large language models developed by Meta. These models range in scale from 7 billion to 70 billion parameters. The fine-tuned versions of these models, known as Llama 2-Chat, are specifically optimized for dialogue use cases.
Llama 2 outperforms open-source chat models on most benchmarks tested, and based on human evaluations for helpfulness and safety, it may be a suitable substitute for closed-source models. The developers of Llama 2 have provided a detailed description of their approach to fine-tuning and safety improvements to enable the community to build on their work and contribute to the responsible development of LLMs.
